Humanity using honey for medicinal purposes dates back to ancient Egypt, where honey was used for over 900 remedies. Since then, honey has been used for everything from treating wounds to aiding in stomach aches. The Holy Bible, The Holy Qur'an, The Holy Geeta and Ramayana mention the value of honey and it's role as a gift from God and nature. The Qur'an itself also mentions that honey is "healing for humankind."
Proverbs 24:13
